HISTORY

Hornchurch FC folded in 2005 after running into financial difficulties related to the club's pursuit to secure continuing progress through the league pyramid. Having secured Conference South status, it was just one season before the Urchins' troubles caught up with them and forced them out of business.

AFC Hornchurch was set up in place of the defunct club, but were forced to restart their ascent up the leagues from the Essex Senior League. Progress was swift, however, making it into the top six of the Ryman League Premier Division by the end of the 2008/9 campaign.
