GROUND HISTORY TRAVEL

Formed in 1921, Hampton & Richmond Borough were simply known as Hampton FC until 1999 before changing their name to incorporate Richmond and the wider area. The club started senior football life in the Surrey County League in 1959, but joined the Spartan League in 1964 and then the Athenian League in 1971. Within two years, the club had moved into the Isthmian League.

Alan Devonshire took the reins in 2003, the Beavers had three cracks at gaining promotion to the Conference South before eventually succeeding in 2007. A second-successive promotion was nearly gained but for a playoff defeat to Eastbourne Borough, while another bid to get into Step Five of the English pyramid was halted at the playoff stage in 2009. The following season was less impressive, however.
