It could be argued that Halifax Town had been in and out of the league more times than anyone else for the duration of Boro's time in the Conference. Twice relegated into the top flight of non-league football, the club's history took another lurch downwards in 2008 when financial difficulties spelled the end of Halifax Town FC.

Accepting demotion to the Northern Premier League Division One North, the club reformed as FC Halifax Town and set about rebuilding their fortunes. The help of Calderdale Council saw the redevelopment of the ground advanced and completed after years of stagnation; the Shaymen are building now for a brighter tomorrow.
