The encounters between Stevenage and Eastbourne Borough in the 2003/4 FA Cup proved to be a prelude to what will became a regular fixture on the Blue Square Premier calendar. The Sussex Boro' were promoted to the Conference at the second time of asking; the first time losing to Altrincham in a North/South playoff.
Eastbourne Borough visited Broadhall Way in May 2008 to take on Hampton & Richmond in a tightly-contested Blue Square South playoff, and it was they who won the right to go up alongside champions Lewes - ironically their fiercest rivals. Promotion was biggest challenge the club had faced in their history. Their inexperience and less-than-notable cup runs in recent years may not have stood them in particularly good stead for the 2008/9 campaign, but they performed admirably and were one of the very few (if not the only) teams to do the double over Stevenage Borough. In 2010/1, the club lost its battle to stay in the Blue Square Premier. Select an option from the left for more information about this club |
