HISTORY

We were somewhat perplexed to learn that Desborough Town had acquired the Ar Tarn nickname, but it has been suggested to us that it perhaps derives from the local pronunciation of "our town". Nonetheless, it is an interesting and unconventional alter-ego for a team that had been an ever-present (but for 1945/6) in the United Counties League since the conclusion of the Second World War.

An appearance in the First Round proper of the FA Cup in 1926/7, drawn away at Football League side Doncaster Rovers, has been a long-standing pinnacle of the club's cup affairs.
