Who Are... Carlisle United FC?
Carlisle United wasted no time at all on their brief excursion to the Nationwide Conference in the 2004/5 season, with promotion secured at the first attempt through the playoffs. Alas, it was at the expense of Stevenage Borough that the club gained re-entry to the Football League - defeating the Hertfordshire club at the Britannia Stadium by a single goal despite a number of chances falling to Boro' and the fact that Boro' had done the double over United over the course of the season.

In getting back to the Football League, the club wasted no further time dallying around the bottom of League Two and pushed on to gain promotion to League One the following season, where the club currently resides. After a number of seasons spent dodging the dreaded drop to the Conference, including one season where a goalkeeper named Jimmy Glass scored an injury time goal saved the club from relegation, the club now seems to be far removed from that part of their history.
Each club guide includes:

Ground: The vital lowdown on all you need to know about a club's home ground.

History: A brief glimpse at the history of the club in question, including major honours.

Travel: If you're in doubt about how to get to a particular stadium, this section'll tell you.

Weekender: A guide to the locality if you're planning to make a weekend of it.
