In three competitive meetings, Stevenage were yet to defeat Cambridge City, suffering defeats in the early stages of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy. However, the teams haven't had the chance to meet regularly as City played in the Southern Premier League before being incorporated in Conference South in 2004.

The move to new surroundings must have had an inspirational effect on what is perceived to be Cambridge's second team - in the 2004/5 season, the club enjoyed a second place finish and their best FA Cup run to date - but it wasn't to last. The club were relegated in 2008 as their ground wasn't up to standard.

Formed in 1908 as Cambridge Town, the club renamed itself in 1951 to mark the redesignation of Cambridge as a City. Although City also pre-dates Cambridge United by three years, success hasn't been as forthcoming - something that the Lilywhites would like to alter.
