Managed by Nigel Clough for a large chunk of their recent non-league stint, Burton Albion were crowned champions of the Blue Square Premier in 2008/9 under the stewardship of Roy McFarland and went up to the Football League for the first time in their history. Led by Paul Peschisolido, the Brewers consolidated their rise into the League with a bottom-half finish comfortably away from the relegation battle.

After seeing the back of the Brewers during the 2009/10 campaign, 2010 saw Stevenage reaquainted with a team that boasts an impressive record agaainst the team from Broadhall Way. Certainly during the club's debut season in the League, there were some remarkable results with goals aplenty; the most iconic one being a 6-5 defeat at home to Cheltenham Town having led 5-3 going into the final ten minutes.
