Bradford City have found it tough in recent years, contending with a less-than-digified drop through the divisions not helped by a couple of spells in administration. It's a situation that Luton Town fans may sympathise with, although the Bantams always appeared to be living on borrowed time in the Premier League, escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth in their debut season in 1999/2000.
The club was formed shortly after the turn of the 20th century, and Football League participation was immediately forthcoming as the competion reportedly saw its presence as a means of breaking into a rugby stronghold in West Yorkshire. A relatively few scares at the bottom of the Football League pyramid aside, Bradford City have been very comfortable in its League participation and have indeed had the honour of competing at the top table - the Premier League. In recent years, times have been hard but the club still presents a formidable challenge in League Two. Certainly, a 14th place finish in 2009/10 belies the fact that the Bantams were still one of the largest clubs in the division with resources at their disposal some of the smaller teams can only dream about. Whether they use that to good effect going forward remains to be seen. Select an option from the left for more information about this club |
