Boreham Wood was the destination for one of Stevenage's pre-season friendlies in summer 2006, having previously visited on a handful of occasions. Boreham Wood's close shave with the FA Trophy final in 2006 is one of the team's highlights, only for Woking to deny them at the semi-final stage.

The club secured promotion to the Blue Square South in 2009/10 for the first time in its history after defeating Kingstonian in the Ryman League playoff. However, the game was marred by an alleged assault by a Boreham Wood supporter on K's player Francis Duku while play was still in progress.
