Who Are... Birmingham City FC?
For many years, Birmingham City have been messing around with city playmates Aston Villa and the scruffy lads from down the road, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers as to who the best team in the West Midlands actually is. The Blues have an impressive history behind them, if not totally comparable with the biggest clubs in English football. The prospect of having to deal with a half-decent Stevenage Borough team in the 1996/7 FA Cup probably didn't present them with their toughest challenge ever - the Blues have gone up against the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona (and failed).

However, the 'home' tie for Stevenage Borough at St Andrews proved to be a shop-window for the non-league lads, impressing on their way to a 2-0 defeat. Less than straight-forward for the Midlands team, but at least something to think about for a brief moment or two before resuming their Black Country battles and useful experience in establishing themselves as a mainstay of the Premier League. Or perhaps not...
