Who Are... Bath City FC?
Arguably one of the most prominent non-league teams, certainly of their 'generation', Bath City slid out of the top flight in 1996 after a long and decent history for a team never to entertain League football. Twice champions of the Southern League ahead of the Conference's formation, League status was only scuppered by the refusal to elect the West Country team into the 92 and so kept them locked away in non-league isolation for the duration. After a brief lull in the Southern Premier during the early 2000s, the club is now looking back up having ascended into the second tier of non-league football.
Last time Boro' met Bath City, the West Country side shocked them out of the cup. Revenge is on the cards next time, surely? It might have to wait a bit though, with Boro's promotion to the Football League coinciding with Bath City's return to the Blue Square Premier after a lengthy spell away. City defeated Boro's arch-rivals Woking in the Blue Square South playoff final to secure their return to the top of the non-league tree.
