When Stevenage Borough drew Bashley in the fourth round of the 2001/2 FA Trophy, it was not meant with disrespect the question 'who?' for The Bash hail from the south-western edge of Hampshire and had not been previously heard of in the quarters at Broadhall Way.

The first meeting of the sides provided a wake-up call, as Bashley held their own and were unlucky to be squeezed out 1-0, thus ending their finest run in the FA Trophy in the process. During the mid-90s, the club made it through to the FA Cup 2nd Round, again only edged out 1-0 by Swansea City.
