We can picture the scene already... "Ashford Town, eh? Middlesex club innit?" - Well, no. Because there were two clubs of the same name knocking around the lower divisions of English football, and this one happens from where that Kent international train station is. Not Ebbsfleet.

That changed in 2011 with the renaming of the club to Ashford United. An end to the confusion, you'd think. And the club found itself suspended by the FA in 2010 due to financial issues, with the club quitting the Ryman League for the Kent Invicta League in 2011.
