Oh dear, this could be a bone of contention for many a-person. The history of AFC Wimbledon is a very recent one, or a very distant one, and it really does depend on who you choose to listen to. Essentially, the club was born out of frustration and anger in 2002 after the former Wimbledon FC upped sticks and moved to Milton Keynes and became the MK Dons team that many have come to (ahem) love. AFC Wimbledon was formed by supporters unhappy with this move, and so began the meteoric rise of the club.

Title after title after title came their way as they settled in nicely to their new way of life, and with such a high level of support behind them, some might argue that they were always destined to reach the top of the non-league pyramid sooner, rather than later. In 2008/9, after a relatively ding-dong battle with Chelmsford City, the Dons powered through to gain promotion to yet another rite of passage. Next stop, the Football League?
